Nicole Beutler, David Weber-Krebs and Igor Dobricic have been invited by the department of theatre science of the University of Amsterdam to guide a two-week work-session at PACTZollverein in Essen with students of theatre science of the University of Bochum. The work focusses on mapping the ‘movement of attention’ of a performative situation. The outcome will be presented during the conference Orbis Pictus - Theatrum Mundi (23-26 October) in Amsterdam.

New work Nicole Beutler

Lost is my quiet forever is the conscious misinterpretation of a baroque opera. Following the exact position of things (2005) and Enter Ghost (2006), Nicole Beutler concludes her trilogy with an examination of qualities associated with the baroque period: theatricality, opulence, festiveness, instability, unpredictability, restlessness and anguish. Together with five performers and two singers Beutler creates a rigid structure. But movement seeps through, transgressing the boundaries of the rational, seeking ongoing emotional expansion and intense physical experience - for performer and spectator alike.

Call for participation: two workshops in 2008

vocabulaboratories is an ongoing project initiated by Paz Rojo, Anja Kanngieser and Manuela Zechner. It consists of a series of laboratory spaces for working on self-made conceptual vocabularies, collectively as well as individually. The project runs throughout 2008/09. We would like to invite you to the two labs in 2008:

13/10 - 18/10: How do we articulate spaces for action?, at Steirischer Herbst festival, Graz/A
01/12 - 06/12: Instituting spaces/making space in institutions, at PAF, Reims/F

Nicole Beutler breathes new life into ballet classic

Les Sylphides (work-in-progress) is the title of the new performance of Nicole Beutler. It is a remake of the ballet classic Les Sylphides, a choreography by Michael Fokine from 1907. On March 9th Les Sylphides (work-in-progress) will be presented as a location project in the Netherlands Architecture Institute in Rotterdam as part of the programme ‘Happening’. On April 19th the performance is to be seen in Utrecht during Springdance 2008. (more…)

Teresina, Brazil: in a land

In December and January David worked for six weeks in Teresina, Brazil. He was invited to present in a land, his performance from 2003. He worked with forty local participants. The completely different context demanded other choices and other working strategies. The performance was a big success and has even been integrated into the theatre’s repertoire. (more…)

Artists in residence at the AHK

During three weeks Nicole Beutler, Ivana Müller and Paz Rojo will be artists in residence at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. LISA has been invited for a residency to do context specific artistic research inside the educational system. Essential for the work of LISA is the question on the ownership of knowledge. Rather than teaching how and what to do in theatre, the LISA’s see themselves as facilitators for meeting and exchange. (more…)

Ivana Müller won two prizes at Festival Impulse

LISA is happy and proud to announce that Ivana Müller’s performance While We Were Holding It Together won two out of three prizes that were granted at Festival Impulse. The jury of the internationally renowned festival awarded While We Were Holding It Together with the first prize for the best off-theatre production as well as the prize of the Goethe institute. LISA live(s) in Kikker

LISA presents the unique, four-days’ festival: LISA live(s) in Kikker, which will take place from December 19th to 22nd in Utrecht. LISA got carte blanche from Theater Kikker and Springdance and seizes the opportunity not only to present her own work, but invited four international guests as well: DD Dorvillier, Jennifer Lacey, Volker Gerling and Lone Twin.
