“A great finding in this wonderful performance is the ‘homunculus’, played by Müller herself. This miniature version of the real body guarantees the harmony between the inside and the outside of the body. An old philosophical allegory about the concurrence between body and mind is presented here, by the literalness of the performance and its many paradoxes. One knows it is nonsense but one also realizes that the idea of ‘self’ is still very much alive. Next to scientific knowledge there still is the knowledge of the body. And that shows a surprising theatrical twist.”
Pieter T’Jonck, De Tijd
“In this exciting and comical theatrical expedition one thing remains mysterious: the self.”
Hans van Dam, Rotterdams Dagblad
“With Under My Skin Müller makes a very self-willed statement as a choreographer once again. In the performance there is no dancing, but there is thinking about the dancer’s instrument. An instrument that unfolds itself to the spectator as a land of possibilities. The body as a theatre of interpretations.”
Elke van Campenhout, De Standaard
