Into The Night focuses on the moment just before the beginning of a theatre performance, when the lights are turned off and the audience gradually falls silent. This audio piece stretches this moment of darkness, anticipation, in-betweenness, intimacy and expectation to the duration of the entire show, turning it into the performance itself. No dancer or actor appears on stage, no lights are switched on, no curtain opens or closes. Instead, the whole spectacle takes place in the spectator’s imagination.

Into The Night was commissioned by LISA for the occasion of the festival LISA live(s) in Kikker (2007, Utrecht). The piece was made as a performative reaction to Paz Rojo’s work This Is Love.
