Sonntag is Nicole Beutler ’s first project with non-professional dancers, and shall lead to a big fascination for the work with ‘real people’ with all its consequences. For this performance she reconstructed and subtly manipulated the traditional form of a german „Tanztee” for the Festival Tanztage in den Sophiensaelen in Berlin . During three weeks she worked with eight elderly ladies between the age of 56 and 75 - all without stage-experience. Her main motivation was to make appear the integrity of the performers, not to overrule them by means of preconceived forms. Sonntag has become a ‘Tanztee’, without forced virtuosity, a proposal towards a dance that is unpretentious and . In this piece questions of age, spare time and pleasure are being raised. For this first project by the Europäische Erstaufführung Nicole Beutler collaborated with visual artist-photographer Beatrice Wrobel and with choreographer Martin Nachbar.

“Schwer vorstellbar, das man das hier so weiterführen kann…Ich fürchte nur, daß das nicht immer so weitergeht… Wir sind hier noch so wenige, da fragt man sich doch, warum? Sind die Kosten zu hoch? Und da frage ich mich eben, ob das bei so wenig Leuten durchgehalten werden kann… Es ist so schön hier, man fragt sich einfach, ob das von Dauer sein wird…. ein bißchen beunruhigen tut es einen natürlich …”
